Alternative Wedding Cake Ideas

Hello Lovelies, I must admit, one of my favourite things about going to a wedding is eating wedding cake (I REALLY love cake), but it’s not for everyone. When it comes to wedding there are so many options to choose from that you don’t have to opt for a large tiered wedding cake. Here are some of my favourite alternative wedding cake ideas.

Macarons

Macarons are small, sweet mouthfuls of deliciousness and are just perfect for weddings. You can opt for different flavours and fillings and even match in with your wedding colour scheme.

Cupcakes

If you love cake but don’t want to go for a full cake then cupcakes are a great choice.

Donuts

Donuts are great and can also be super cheap. You can buy trays of them in your local supermarket and just layer them up on cake stands or platters and they look fantastic.

Dessert table

If you cant decide on just one type of cake why not have them all and just lay on a dessert table for your guests.

Cheese Wheels

If you don’t want a cake at all then why not go for some cheese wheels, you can even stack them up to look like a cake and serve oatcakes, crackers and bread. Yum!

Muffins

Muffins are super tasty, super cute and a great alternative to a cupcake if you aren’t a huge butter cream/frosting fan.

Brownies

Who doesn’t love a gooey, sweet chocolate brownie. Put them on individual plates or stack them up in a tower and dust with icing sugar for an Instagram worthy dessert.

Cake pops

Cake pops looks great in photographs, and they are small enough to still be able to look cute when nibbling them. They can be covered in edible glitter and gold dust and taste amazing.

Single cake

If you are having a small wedding but still want a cake then a single cake is perfect. It doesn’t have to look like a wedding cake, it’s your day, just go for your favourite cake!

Homemade cake

Homemade wedding cakes are so fun, they don’t have to be perfect and it’s even more special if you or a family member make it. Here is my brother’s wedding cake that I made. What do you think?

I hope you have enjoyed finding out about the alternatives you can have to wedding cakes and that it has inspired you for your own wedding. What cake ideas do you have, or did you have for your big day? Let me know in the comments.
