How to Prepare For Your Hair Trial With Jillian Elizabeth

Hello Lovelies,

Today I am going to chat a little bit about how I like my gorgeous brides and bridal parties to prepare for a hair trial with myself. If you are planning your hair trial then have a read of this blog so that you know what to expect and to get you thinking a little about the style you may want.

Come with clean and dry hair

Clean hair can be slightly different to different people. Some people wash their hair every day, some people wash it once a week. I don’t mind what kind of person you are; as long as you come with clean, dry hair that is free from oil and products I will be happy. If your hair is fine and lacking volume I will add products to it to boost it. If it is frizzy I will use products to tame it.

Get a cut and colour

This isn’t 100% important and often brides are growing out a section of their hair etc., however it is nice to have all of the dead ends trimmed and roots touched up so you can see the full effect. I often have brides come for their trial then say they wish they had their roots done as it doesn’t look as nice.

Think about your style and bring some photographs

Have a think about the style of wedding you are having and if you would like that reflected in your hair. Are you having a luxury feeling wedding in an ornate manor house or are you having a boho wedding in a barn? Also think about your own personal style and how you like having your hair.

Feel free to bring along pictures of your hair when it was sitting just right and you loved it or when you had it styled and you thought it was great. I love when clients show me my hairstyles on brides that they love and I love using images as inspiration to create a bespoke wedding hairstyle for a bride.

Be realistic

I would say use Pinterest however be wary as most of the big volume bridal hairstyles have packets and packets of hair extensions in. This can be created however will cost you hundreds to get good quality hair extensions and can take a lot longer to style.

If you aren’t looking to have extensions then be realistic about your own hair volume and length. Try not to fall in love with a style that wont work for you, and rest assured that if your desired style won’t work in your hair I will create a beautiful look that will.

Bring your headpieces

If you have a veil, tiara, hair vine, comb or any other kind of headpieces then bring them along to your trial so we can work out the best style to suit them and where in your hair to position them. If you haven’t decided or haven’t got your headpieces yet then its no problem at all, I have a few veils and jewels we can play with to give you an idea.

Plan a night out for after

Why not plan to go for a meal, cocktails or even a full on night out after your trial. I don’t mind doing a quick change for you so others don’t see your wedding hair style; lets face it if you are having your hair styled you would be aswell going out to show it off!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
