Last weekend I went to The Big Dundee Wedding Exhibition at the Caird Hall and it was amazing! There were over a hundred suppliers to see, a live catwalk, mini hair and makeup trials (by yours truly at Jillian Elizabeth Hair and Makeup Artistry) and some lucky couples even won the opportunity to make their own wedding rings with Scarlett Erskine Jewellery. Not to mention amazing floral crown workshops with Bluebell and Birch and lots of lovely, tasty treats to try with many other exhibitors. This exhibition is a must for all local wedding planning couples, do not worry it is back in February.
You all know me as Jillian Elizabeth at Bride to Beauty blog, but some of you may not know I also run a wedding hair and makeup business called Jillian Elizabeth Hair and Makeup Artistry (Find a little more out about me here). I was exhibiting to brides at the wedding exhibition and offering mini hair and makeup trials for all those who were interested. I had such a wonderful time meeting so many brides, grooms, bridal parties, and friends and families.
One of my assistants covered my stall for an hour and I had a wander around with my newly engaged friend Julie and her friend Natalie. There were far too many wonderful exhibitors to feature in my blog, but here are just a few that I loved.
I just love the way Eve has set her up her display! It is rustic, romantic, and beautiful just like her wedding photography. I have worked with Eve at weddings before and her photographs are just sensational. She is also such a professional and friendly person and is really easy to get along with. With Eve, her photographs really do just speak for themselves, so please do have a look at her website.
I have never been to a wedding with Edinburgh Gin, but oh boy do I want to go to one now! Gin is getting so popular, and Edinburgh Gin’s liqueurs are just to die for! There are so many flavours (click here to see them all) but my all time favourite is rhubarb and ginger.
Edinburgh Gin is perfect for a wedding as the miniatures are amazing favours. Drink it straight or pour it nto your glass of prosecco for the wedding toast! The full size bottles could also make an amazing gin bar for your drinks reception after your wedding ceremony.
If you haven’t tried these gins, you just have to! I’m being serious… go out and get a bottle right now!
Scarlett had such a fun workshop at the wedding exhibition. She ran a competition in the run up and 2 couples won the chance to make their own wedding rings; how exciting for them! Scarlett taught both couples all the techniques required, and was on hand to help when needed. What a unique wedding idea that can be treasured forever! You can find out more about this amazing experience by clicking here.
Scarlett has a beautiful collection of jewellery that is perfect for the whole bridal party and offers various other jewellery workshops. I did a ring making workshop with my mum for Mother’s Day and it was amazing! My mum wears the ring she made every day. Scarlett was so friendly and helpful and made the experience so fun for us. Scarlett also offers a bespoke commission service which involves the customer in the creative process of designing new pieces or revamping existing ones.
This was the first time I saw Hats by Sarah Lou and I was so impressed! She has a gorgeous range of hats, hatinators and fascinators available for sale and will also custom design one for you to go with any outfit.
I told her about a wedding I am going to next year and she came up with lots of amazing ideas for a fascinator for me. If you are looking for one of a kind headwear then check out this amazing lady.
I would book Annie at Bluebell and Birch to do my wedding flowers on her personality alone! She is one of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met. The fact that her wedding flowers are gorgeous is an added bonus. Annie can create any type of wedding bouquet you are looking for, however my favourite are her floral crowns.
Annie had a live flower crown making workshop at the exhibition where some lucky bridal parties got to design and create their own flower crowns. This is such a wonderful idea for a hen party or the day before a wedding for the bridal party to wear!
This castle is a wedding venue I have been to many times. It is romantic and ornate and the perfect setting for a wedding. It is always lovely to see Jan from Fingask at a wedding fayre as she is so fun and friendly and always has so much wonderful wedding advice.
If you are looking for a castle wedding in Scotland then you have to look at Fingask Castle. You can get married inside or out, it sleeps up to 70 people, has a permanent pavilion, and it is just beautiful.
I had never heard of Sugar Style before I met the lovely ladies who run it at the wedding exhibition, but I will not forget them. Just look at these amazing treats, they look too good to eat!
Cupcakes, tarts, cake pops, deserts, candy apples and full size cakes! Is there anything these ladies can’t do? It all looked sensational and would make the best desert table at a wedding. Get in touch with these ladies now.
Innate Bridals offers a wide range of stunning ex-sample and cancellation designer bridal gowns. Available at 40-80% of the original RRP. I love this shop, it has so many beautiful gowns at amazing prices. Keira who runs Innate is such a lovely person and has an amazing skill of finding dresses that will suit you. her store is spacious, chic and has a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Contact her here to book an appointment.
