It’s always annoying when a spot pops up on your skin, but right before your wedding it’s even more annoying. Here are my 6 top tips to treat spots before your wedding day.
1 – Keep your skin care in check
Looking after your skin is so important. (Have a read of my review of some Kiehl’s skincare) Use skin products that are designed for your skin type, and if you have spot prone skin then look for products with salicylic acid and tea tree. Make sure you take your make-up off every night before you go to bed and start incorporating a twice daily cleanse, tone and moisturise routine. If you do have a breakout then try Dermalogica’s overnight clearing gel and sebum clearing masque.
2 – Don’t change your skin care close to the big day
It can be tempting to try an amazing new product or treatment right before your wedding, however if you don’t know how your skin will react to it then it’s a bad idea. It could cause a breakout or redness or even a reaction so it’s best to stick to the products you know and love.
3 – Don’t wear make-up
In the week leading up to your wedding try not to wear any make-up and just let your skin breath. If I have a special event I always do this so that my skin is at its best.
4 – Drink plenty of water
There is a lot of debate as to whether drinking lots of water actually improves your skin, but it certainly won’t hurt, so drink up!
5 – Don’t pick
It is tempting to pick and squeeze spots, but that’s a quick way to make them worse. Touching them transfers the dirt and bacteria from your hands to your face, and picking them can leave scarring. Always wash your hands before using your skin care and try to just leave them alone.
6 – Trust your make-up artist
if you wake up on the morning of your wedding with a few spots then don’t worry. Trust that your makeup artist will be able to cover them for you. At the end of the day there is nothing you can do to magically remove spots on the day so don’t let it stress you out. You are going to look so beautiful and radiant, so just smile and enjoy your wonderful day.
